Applying Loose Glitter, Chips, Flakes, & Other Small Nail Parts

Sparkly glitter, iridescent flakes, pearlescent chips, and other small nail art materials can be a dazzling way to elevate any manicure. Whether you are heading to a party, a night out, or simply want to add a touch of sparkle to your everyday look, glitter nails can be a befitting accessory. Below are several ways to apply glitter and other small nail parts for an eye-catching manicure. 

 Glitter Mix-In Method


1. After nail prep, apply a base coat. Cure for 60 seconds.
2. Mix in loose glitter with a clear gel.


3. Use a square or oval brush to apply glitter onto the nails. Cure for 60 seconds.


4. Dab a mini sponge on the glitter and clear gel mixture to pick up more glitter and apply to the nail for a more concentrated glitter result. Cure for 60 seconds.


5. File the edge of the nail with a fine grit file to smooth out any roughness.
6. Apply a medium viscosity top gel. Cure for 60 seconds. 


 Encapsulated Glitter

1. After nail prep, apply a base coat. Cure for 60 seconds. 
2. Apply a base color of choice. Cure for 60 seconds.
3. Apply clear gel. Do not cure.
4. Use a brush to apply flakes or lightly tap glitter or flakes from its container over the uncured gel.

    5. Use a silicone tool or dotting tool to lightly press the glitter or flakes into the gel. Cure for 60 seconds.
    6. Use a brush to gently brush off excess glitter.
    7. Use a brush to pick up a drop of non-wipe low viscosity clear gel to encapsulate the glitter or flakes. Cure for 60 seconds.
    8. File and buff gel to smooth and refine the shape of the nail. Clean with alcohol or cleansing wipe.


    9. Apply top gel. Cure for 60 seconds.


     Pour-Over Glitter 

    1. After nail prep, apply a base coat. Cure for 60 seconds. 
    2. Apply a base gel color of choice. Cure for 60 seconds.
    3. Apply a coat of non-wipe long-lasting top gel. Do not cure.

      4. Use a small spatula to scoop out glitter and sprinkle over the nail or gently tap glitter from its container over the nail.


      5. Gently press glitter into gel with a silicone tool. Cure for 60 seconds.


      6. Use a nail brush to brush off excess glitter.


       Applying Chips

      1. After nail prep, apply a base coat. Cure for 60 seconds.
      2. Apply a base gel color of choice or base design. Cure for 60 seconds.
      3. Apply a drop of non-wipe low viscosity gel. Do not cure.
      4. Apply the chips, arranging them to your liking.



      5. Encapsulate the chips with a low viscosity top gel. Cure for 60 seconds.

      General Glitter Application Tips
      -File the edges after applying glitter for smooth edges
      -Smooth out the surface of the nails after applying glitter to remove uneven or rough areas
      -Apply a medium to low viscosity non-wipe top gel to overlay the glitter for a smooth and even finish
