Making Nail Charms and 3D Designs Using Jel and Gel Ggumi Gel

Have you ever wondered how to create your own 3D nail designs and nail charms? With Jel and Gel’s Ggumi Embo Gel, you can create all sorts of fun 3D designs on the nails and even make nail charms for later use. Ggumi Embo Gel is a thick clay-like gel that holds its shape as you mold it to your liking. They are easy to use and come in a variety of colors. Neon & Glow (EB-011 to EB-020) features bright neon colors with glow-in-the-dark effects. Set 1 (EB-001 to EB-005) includes essential colors like white, black, and brown, which are suitable for creating characters. Set 2 (EB-006 to EB-010) contains pearlescent, romantic, and playful colors for shimmery designs. Ggumi Gel Clear is a crystal clear transparent gel for versatile use. “Ggumi” (꾸미) in Korean means “to decorate,” such as decorating a space or adding embellishments to an item. Ggumi is the perfect name for these gels since embossed and 3D decorations can add personalization and make nails more visually appealing.

When handling Ggumi Gels, it is helpful to have a palette, a palette knife or nail art spatula, silicone tools, and cleansing alcohol. A clean palette and nail art spatula will make it easier to roll the gel. Silicone tools help in shaping the gel. Dabbing the tools in cleansing alcohol can help prevent the gel from sticking onto the tools as you shape the gel.

Ggumi Gels can be shaped and molded using your fingers. However, the warmth from your fingers can make the gels become sticky and difficult to mold into shape. Other factors such as humidity and room temperature can affect the moldability of the gels. If it is too cold, the gel can be too stiff, making it hard to shape. If it is too hot, the gel can be too soft, making the gel sticky and not moldable. Generally, molding gels like Ggumi Gels will typically work best with indoor humidity between 30-50% and room temperature at around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. If the gel is too soft, cooling it for a few minutes can help the gel stiffen. If the gel is too stiff, warming the gel for 30-60 seconds will help it soften.

When creating symmetrical designs such as flowers or bows, begin by scooping a small bead from the jar with a clean spatula, keeping the size relative to the design. On a clean palette, roll the gel into a uniform log.

Use the spatula to divide the log into evenly sized pieces to ensure symmetrical shape. For example, to create a five-petal flower, roll out the gel into an even log and divide it into five equal pieces.

Then place each bead on the nail and use a pointed or cone tip silicone tool to mold each piece into a flower petal. This technique will help keep the petals equal in size.

Use the pointed tip of the silicone tool to create a tapered point at the center of the flower. Apply pressure as you press the silicone tool downward at the center of the petal. Pull the gel outwards to create a petal. Repeat for remaining petals. Cure design for 60-120 seconds depending on the thickness of the gel design. Keep gel thickness under five millimeters for curing.

With Ggumi Gels, you can also create nail charms for future use. To do this, place a plastic full nail tip on a nail tip stand and fully cover the nail tip surface with a small piece of foil. Smooth out the surface of the foil as much as possible.

Using Ggumi Gel, create your desired design on the nail tip as you would on a real nail, adding hand-painted details if necessary. Fully cure the gel. Seal the hand-painted details with a top gel, or wipe away any tackiness with a cleansing wipe.

Once done, store the nail charm in an airtight container for later use. This method is especially helpful for creating character charms since they often take time to mold and hand paint facial details. Making them in advance will be more efficient as this helps reduce service time.

If you love creating fun and detailed 3D or embossed nail art, Ggumi Gels are a versatile product to add to your nail supplies. With imagination and practice, Ggumi Gels can take your nail art to the next level.
