Have you tried dual forms? If you’re looking to add length to your natural nails, dual forms are reusable, curved plastic molds used to quickly sculpt highly viscous gels into nail extensions. The gel is applied directly into the dual form, then pressed onto the prepped natural nail. After curing under a UV/LED nail lamp, the dual form is removed to reveal a smooth, apex-formed extension that’s ready for shaping refinement and color application.
At Sweetie Nail Supply, we offer several dual form systems and tip molds. In this blog post, we’ll highlight Liuhwa’s dual forms and what makes each type different.

Standard Dual Forms

Liuhwa’s standard dual forms include Stay Tip (Stiletto) and Fixpro Tip (Coffin). Both sets come with dual forms in 12 sizes and feature line guides for creating extensions in a variety of lengths. The dual forms are durable with uniform material thickness throughout the entire tip for a consistent feel.
The dual form sizes are marked with small numbers at the tip and organized with even-numbered sizes in the top row and odd-numbered sizes in the bottom row. These standard dual forms are ideal for nail artists who prefer a classic structure.

Hi-Fix Dual Forms

Liuhwa’s Hi-Fix Fit Tip (Ballerina) and Hi-Fix Lock Tip (Stiletto) are specialized dual forms designed with enhanced features that make the extension process more efficient for professionals. Compared to Liuhwa’s standard dual forms, the Hi-Fix series offer a more intuitive design to help streamline application and improve fit.
Both styles come with dual forms in 15 sizes marked with centreline and length guides for creating short, medium, and long extensions. The sizes are clearly labeled near the base of each dual form, making them easier to identify at a glance. Unlike the standard versions, the Hi-Fix dual forms are arranged in a single row from largest to smallest for faster size selection.
One of the standout features is the material structure. The Hi-Fix dual forms are thicker at the tip for added stability during application and thinner at the base for improved flexibility, creating extensions with better structure and durability. The thinner base allows the dual form to conform to the natural nail for a better fit, regardless of variations in natural nail curvature and base shape. It also helps minimize the visible ridge of the gel extension near the cuticle area, reducing the amount of refining needed afterward.
Each kit also includes a spatula tool that can be used to apply gel into the dual form and to gently separate the dual form from the cured extension.

Advanced Dual Forms

The Nu Dual Form Tips are a more advanced option for building gel extensions. Known as “the first sandwich nail form,” it is a unique two-piece dual form system designed to create cleaner, more refined extensions.
With traditional dual forms, excess gel can sometimes seep underneath the natural nails during application and cure into the underside of the nail, requiring complicated cleanup filing with specialized e-file bits. The Nu Dual Forms help minimize this issue by using both a top and bottom dual form to better contain the gel during application and curing.

These dual forms are available in square and oval shapes and include centreline and length guides for building short, medium, and long extensions. Each set comes with 15 sizes for more precise fitting. Similar to the Hi-Fix series, the dual forms feature a thicker tip area for application stability and a thinner, more flexible base that better adapts to the natural nail.
For artists who work with clients and varying nail shapes, the Nu Dual Forms offer a versatile and refined application experience to suit diverse nail extension needs.

Liuhwa Gels to use with Dual Forms
Liuhwa also offers gel specially designed for use with its dual form systems. Liuhwa Hi-Fix Gel is a balanced-viscosity gel that is easy to work with while still creating durable extensions. It comes in four colors and has a soft texture that is easy to control yet stays in place, making it ideal for sculpting nail extensions.
Unlike traditional polygel, Hi-Fix Gel has a softer, smoother texture that is easier to scoop and spread into the dual form. Despite its soft texture, it is non-flowing and stays in placement on the dual form. However, when applying the dual form with Hi-Fix Gel onto the nail, the gel spreads easily across the nail with light pressure. Gentler application movements are recommended to help prevent seepage or overflow when pressing the dual form onto the nail.

Liuhwa Zero Base & Overlay is a non-acidic, resin-rich base gel formulated for strong adhesion and long-lasting wear. It is self-leveling, soak-off, and designed to create a refined foundation for gel applications. Its strong adhesion helps prevent lifting and supports wear lasting over four weeks with proper preparation and application.
It can double as a builder gel to overlay the nail. If dual forms are applied slightly away from the cuticle area for a better fit to the natural nail, an overlay using Liuhwa Zero Base & Overlay Gel can help blend this transition for a more seamless appearance and added durability. The consistency is easy to work with and self-levels beautifully, creating a smooth, even surface.

Dual forms continue to grow in popularity because they offer a faster, cleaner, and more efficient way to sculpt gel extensions while reducing the need for traditional tips and excessive shaping refinement. From salon sets to trendy statement nails, dual forms make it easy to achieve consistent results with less product waste and less filing time, reducing overall application time. Liuhwa Dual Forms offer a variety of Dual Form styles to match different techniques, preferences, and nail shapes. As gel extensions continue evolving, having the right dual form system can make a noticeable difference in both the application experience and the final results.
